10 Ways to Show Gratitude to Your Peeps for Helping You Move Into Your New Place

There’s no doubt about it. Your friends are pretty awesome. They took time out of their busy schedules to help you move into your new Dallas apartment. Maybe they even stuck around for a while to help you unpack and make sure you got settled in. How can you ever repay them? Well, you can start by saying thank you. If you really want to show how much you appreciate your loyal comrades, consider doing one of the following as well.

Feed Them

Feed Them – You can start showing your gratitude for your friends right away by making sure they’re well fed the day of the move. Besides, it’s sort of a tradition to order pizza and maybe crack open a few brewskies to help make the task at hand a little more enjoyable. Or, wait until you move that last box across your new threshold and then celebrate over some dinner and drinks.

Pay for Their Expenses – If your pals helped by trekking car-loads of your belongings from your old place to your new one, don’t forget to pay them back for any monetary expenses they may have incurred. For instance, offer to pay for their gas or give them each a gift card for a local gas station that they can use after the fact.

Throw a Party – You’re probably already planning a housewarming party to show off your shiny new Dallas apartment, so why not use this gathering as an opportunity to also thank those who were generous and thoughtful enough to help you move? Don’t forget to invite a few of your new neighbors as well so you can start rubbing elbows and making new friends.

Cook for Them – Beyond the traditional post-move pizza and beer, you can take the concept a step further by offering to cook a hearty meal for your buddies. Have them all over for a fun dinner party in your newly decorated dining room, or host each friend individually for a more personal ‘thank you’. If you’re not up for cooking a whole meal, maybe just bake them some cookies.

Take Them Out – If a home-cooked meal or dessert isn’t your forte, don’t sweat it. There are tons of awesome Dallas restaurants and bars where you can bring your pals for a post-move thank you meal. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, either. Even if it’s just burgers and beer or tapas and cocktails – getting together to enjoy each-others company is what it’s all about.

Give Gift Cards – These are super easy and convenient, and they’ll be very much appreciated by your friends. Buy gift cards to your friends’ favorite coffee shop, restaurant, store or salon. The options are plentiful and easily personalized. When it comes to gift cards, there truly is something for everyone.

Book a massage

Book a Massage – Moving is a physical task and it’s not uncommon to experience soreness the next day. Let your buddies know how much you appreciate all the manual labor they put in by buying them all massages. On a budget? Check out Groupon – they’re always running local deals like this. Or, look into whether there are any massage schools in your neighborhood that might offer discounted services performed by students. And while you’re at it, book one for yourself as well. You deserve it!

Buy Some Booze – Beyond the drinks you supply during or directly following your big move, why not reward your pals with a bottle of their favorite wine or liquor. This is especially good for those friends who might not be able to stick around after the move or have busy schedules that make meeting up for drinks difficult. This way they can enjoy a drink (or several) on you at their convenience and in the comfort of their own Dallas apartment.

Give an IOU – Just like you needed a hand moving in, each of your friends could probably list any number of things that they wouldn’t mind getting help with. Make out an IOU for whatever task makes sense for each friend. Some ideas might include picking up their dry-cleaning, walking their dog or cooking them dinner. Or, if you’re brave enough, give them a blank coupon that they can fill in with a task of their choice.

Return the Favor – Last but not least, let your friends know that the next time one of them decides to move to a new Dallas apartment, you’ll be first on the list to step up and help them with the move just as they did for you. Oh – and when you do, be sure to give them this list so they’ll know how to repay you when the time comes.
